Caines Arcade_ Short Doc

I watched this yesterday and it made me so happy. I used to do stuff like this when I was a kid (I had an art exhibition that the principle of my elementary school to). Nice to see a supportive father building up his boys ideas and ambitions. Also think it’s great that the filmmaker made this happen and that there is a Scholarship Fund for Caine. Do it yourself.

The Noise of Cairo_ Doc Teaser

A long documentary teaser for The Noise of Cairo I didn’t even finish watching it before I posted it. So interesting to see the creativity that a major change in social order can release. It asks the question “how did the revolution of 2011 change Egyptian artists and their work?”

Cody ChestNuTT_ Parting Ways

I met Cody ChestNuTT a long time ago in Europe when I was touring with K-OS and The Roots. I always found him interesting. I remember walking through the streets of Bristol (I think) heading to lunch with him and Sol Guy (now K’naans manager). Cody had his guitar out in the middle of the street and was playing as we spoke, moving it out of the way as people passed by us. Happy to see he has music coming out again. (via Tigist Selam)

Kendrick Lamar_ Rocksmith Doc (I Am)

I like Kendrick Lamar. I think he’s one of the most interesting young rappers out right now. Although I don’t really like everything that he does he seems to be on a path that is a little deeper than most of his contemporaries.

The Boombox Project_ Drop Culture

I pulled this from the Manifesto blog quite a while ago but never posted it. The Boombox Project is an interesting project and a beautifully shot short doc piece on it’s creator.
